CRISIS PREGNANCY CARE
Ashley will work to establish Crisis Pregnancy Care to begin the great task of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and discipline young teens (as young as 13) who are pregnant. Through this discipleship they can learn God’s plan for a family and what a Godly relationship looks like so that there isn’t a need for them to seek abortions because they are having Godly relationships. For those that are already pregnant or have children they also will learn how God created relationships to work but can receive the help and support they need to care for themselves and their baby. Abortion is illegal in almost all cases in Colombia but there are over 400,000 illegal abortions performed every year. These pregnancies are in crisis because of the age of the mothers and/or the means by which they became pregnant.
The reasons for pregnancies outside of marriage are numerous. In the context here on the coast it is a mixture of; a total and complete lack of hope in all aspects of life, boredom and girls prostituting themselves to obtain the basic necessities. Here in the department of Magdalena 46.6% of the population lives below the poverty line meaning they earn less than the minimum wage of about $8.50 per day. Many kids drop out of school by the time they reach high school because they and often times their families see no hope for the future so there is no point in continuing with school.

The Crisis Pregnancy Care will
- Reach out to girls facing unplanned pregnancies and share the good news of Jesus Christ
- Be pregnancy educators and teach how God designed relationships to help reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies
- Help girls understand the decisions they make, they have to live with the rest of their lives
- Offer counseling and one on one mentoring.
- Christian - A Christian environment will offer a safe and nurturing place for new moms who don't have family suport
- Affordable - Daycare is almost non-existent in poorer neighborhoods because family usually takes care of children if a mom must work
- Offers accountability, support & employment opportunities for teen moms - Since many abortions occur among teens there will be a need for life skills and job training for these new moms who have chosen life and may not have been able to finish high school or college and needs to provide for her new child.
