Life is about crossroads. We have decisions everyday we must make that impact where we go in life. The Christian life is no exception however at our crossroads we have a counselor in the Holy Spirit to help guide us. CrossRoads is an idea I had for a ministry blog, I googled ‘crossroads’ blog and there is another ministry type blog with a similar name but they are in Michigan and have graphics and commentators and stuff also ‘millenial pastor’ or something like that was taken by a millennial in Canada so my CrossRoads has that uppercase R in the center, super creative. Ashley’s and my ministry is in Chia, Colombia but ministry really knows no bounds because our savior Jesus Christ knows no bounds. Yes I’m involved in theological education and developing church leaders but that doesn’t mean that is all my ministry is about.
This blog is about both picking up my cross daily and following Christ and a life long journey on this road we call life. Both are easy to talk about but not easy to do well. CrossRoads will be helpful for anyone seeking to live a life dedicated to serving Jesus Christ. It is out of our understanding of scripture and the Holy Spirit’s guidance that we learn how to live. While this blog is meant for everyone it will also serve to help those in leadership positions as well. After all it is God who gives us our gifting. He gifts some as a stay at home mom or CEO of a company or military general. But beyond just giving us our gifts God instructs us in its proper use for His glory. Regardless of gifting and our roles in life this blog will seek to help us glorify God daily.
To be honest this blog is also going to be a dumping ground for my thoughts and ideas, as seen in the paragraph above. I enjoy connecting dots between truth in scripture and real world life. For me the best way to effectively hone those connections is by talking them out with others who can provide feedback. I’m not perfect and my mind works funny sometimes so some ideas sound great in my head and once voiced make people wonder how I made it through a Master’s degree, which I also wonder about on a daily basis. As my Spanish proficiency increases these posts will be both in Spanish and English because ministry is not limited in language or geographic area.
